Gold-filled hardware is the next best thing after solid gold, for a fraction of the price. It is a better alternative to gold plating: Unlike plated gold, where a gold layer is placed on top of another metal, in gold-filled findings gold is bonded, not just plated, ensuring gold fill stays gold for longer. Gold fill contains 100 x more gold than gold plate, and if cared for will keep its colour for decades.
