An early 1960s guide to Brazil

Really missing home these days, so January's vintage book of the month is a 1961 guide to Brazil by the American Geographical Society. I bought it at an antiques fair in Brooklyn many years ago because it was cheap and came with stickers 😅

It's always interesting seeing what other nations "observe" about yours, and although most observations are generalizations/not true (or just outdated), it was still a fun read (and did I mention the stickers??). For example, I am from São Paulo, so according to this book I'm not witty nor fun-loving 🥲Also, the city of São Paulo had 3.5 million people back then, now it's got 12.3 million & I laughed a lot when I moved here and people would say things like "do you feel overwhelmed by London because it's so big?" and I was like "bitch, please".
