Wes Anderson inspired jewellery ✨

I’ve always been a big fan of the Wes Anderson aesthetic, so my latest collection of upcycled vintage jewellery was inspired by the colour palettes of some of my favourite Wes Anderson movies!

1) The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004)

I’m not sure I grasped how sad this film was when I first watched it (I was 12 when it came out), so what stuck with me after all these years were 1) the animation sequences of life under the sea, 2) the striking colour combo of blue and red and 3) the poster’s colour of aqua and yellow.

I did try to rewatch the movie when I first thought about making a collection inspired by Wes Anderson, but it took me so long to get through it because of how sad it was that in the end everything I made was more or less from memory 😅

The sea, in general, is always very inspiring to me (the real sea, not only the animations in the movie), as I love the amazing colours, organic shapes and life it holds. I’m a pisces too, although I’m not sure if this should I mean I like the ocean anyway!

Below are some of the pieces I made inspired by The Life Aquatic:

2) Moonrise Kingdom (2012)

Moonrise Kingdom, released in 2012, on the other hand — omg, such a cute movie!! Yes, of course it has its sad moments (marriages falling apart, children feeling unworthy of love), but most of all it reminded me of how children are innocent and ready for adventure. I think all grown ups could learn from them! And of course, the photography is 👨‍🍳 💋 , as per the usual from Wes.

I was actually a scout when I was a kid (only a beaver, the day I graduated into a cub my older brother decided he didn’t want to be a scout anymore so my mom pulled both of us out because she didn’t want to drive just me there 😢), so I think this made me vibe with the movie even more! The Suzy necklace, below, features colours of all of Suzy’s amazing 60s dresses and her turquoise eye shadow. The colour palette is something I wouldn’t have gravitated towards naturally, but it looks so amazing together!

3) The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)

The Grand Budapest Hotel is, to no one’s surprise, my favourite Wes Anderson movie (at least so far). It’s still sad, so sad, but also very beautiful! And pastel, pinks and cakes are my top sources of inspiration, so… I do think these are some of the most beautiful pieces I’ve created so far, too! Such beautiful, special vintage beads 💕

I might definitely make new Wes Anderson-inspired jewellery someday, as I hope he’ll continue producing top notch movies for a long time! Stay tuned to see what I create next using vintage beads.
